A slogan made famous by our friends in Detroit – “Built Tough” – comes foremost to my mind when I think about our PowerEdge servers. Over the years, Dell has helped thousands of customers optimize workloads, accelerate the benefits of virtualization and migrate business critical applications to our x86 servers. These workhorse servers are the IT backbone of many data center operations and are counted on to power business operations day-in and day-out. We’re pleased to announce we are making 17 PowerEdge servers even better with the latest processors available from both AMD and Intel.
This is significant for Dell customers because it allows them to build out agile server infrastructures including migrating to and taking advantage of “cloud models”. This is about empowering IT managers to do more with less while being more strategic in the way they allocate and provide IT resources for a wide variety of workloads.
On the Intel side, Dell has revved up 14 PowerEdge and PowerEdge C servers with Intel’s new Xeon 5600 series. These systems include Dell’s entire line of two-socket PowerEdge servers, including four blade servers (M610, M710, M610X and M710HD, seven rack servers (R710, R610, R510, R410, C1100, C2100, C6100) and three tower servers (T710, T610, T410). The net result for our customers can achieve as much as a 67 percent gain in performance compared to Dell PowerEdge servers with the previous generation of Intel Xeon 5500 series processors. The big plus here for customers is that they get two additional cores of computing performance without paying for it.
On the AMD side, Dell is offering the latest AMD Opteron 6000 processors in the updated PowerEdge R715 and R815 servers. These servers with AMD’s latest processors will help you achieve better overall system performance increases of up to eight percent and greater energy efficiency compared to previous generations of Dell AMD PowerEdge servers. In addition, Today we are introducing the PowerEdge C6145, engineered specifically for High Performance Computing This AMD-based system, which is one of the highest performing 2U boxes on the market, with two four-socket servers for a total of 96 cores. These performance gains make our mainstream servers an ideal platform for workload consolidation and rapid IT infrastructure deployments. The range and depth of our PowerEdge portfolio makes it easier for IT managers to align with business goals and objectives which is always TOUGH. Just like our PowerEdge servers, tough, reliable and cost-effective.
