Dell Technologies: ‘In the SpotLight’, Ruud De Winde

´In the SpotLight´ is a series of conversations by Arnaud Bacros, General Manager for Belgium and Luxembourg at Dell Technologies, with his colleagues from the Benelux region. In this issue, he speaks with Ruud de Winde, Datacenter Solution Principal at Dell Technologies. Ruud is working for Dell Technologies Services.

Dell Technologies is well known for its hardware and software solutions. In this video, Ruud explains that Dell Technologies can also support customers through the full lifecycle of their IT-asset environment. That means; from the conception to the deployment, configuration, migration, support and even the management of the environment. The market is transforming and transitioning to new technologies and Dell Technologies can support organizations in developments like; workforce transformation, IT-modernization, cyber security and application mobility or availability.

Concerns about security

Ruud explains that customers are often concerned about the security of their IT-environment. “They are afraid to be attacked by hackers or encounter other cyber threats like ransomware.”  An attack may not only have financial consequences for an organization and its customer, but it could also damage its brand image as well. Organizations are therefore looking into new ways of securing their environment and realizing their recovery possibilities.

Dell Technologies is guiding its customers through the full NIST cybersecurity framework.

Identifying the vulnerabilities is the first step in this process. “We offer customers a business impact analysis,” Ruud explains. “Besides that, Dell Technologies delivers a solution to automate some of the processes in the detection area with carbon black. And with our NDR-suite managed detection and response service we can take care of the recovery after an attack.”

Consulting approach

Not every IT manager is willing to share where they are from a maturity perspective. Therefore, Dell Technologies applies a consultative approach in this sense. Ruud: “We guide our customers to a new solution through an ‘assist to be’ framework, where we explore and assess the current situation together with the customer.”

Together, Dell Technologies and the customer define the issues and problems they want to solve, followed by a possible solution or new architecture, considering the strategic vision and guiding principles of Dell Technologies.
