Dell EMC RecoverPoint for VMs is a fully virtualized hypervisor-based replication and automated disaster recovery solution that is highly integrated into the VMware cloud management software. Virtual RecoverPoint appliances are easily installed on any existing ESXi servers with flexible deployment configurations and ESXi splitters reside on all servers with protected workloads, allowing replication and recovery at the virtual disk (VMDK and RDM) granularity level. Since the I/O splitter resides within the vSphere hypervisor, RecoverPoint for VMs can replicate VMs to and from any storage array supported by VMware: SAN, NAS, DAS, and vSAN.
Administrator Visibility and Control
The provisioning of replication is typically performed using a simple wizard in the vSphere Web Client. The wizard allows the vAdministrator to choose the destination for the replication, define the consistency group containing multiple VMs representing inter-dependent applications, set the data protection policies and auto-provision VMDKs and VMs on the replicas.
Automated Disaster Recovery Orchestration
The vAdministrator is able to conduct automated disaster recovery orchestration tasks up to an entire site level directly from within the RecoverPoint for VMs vCenter plug-in. The disaster recovery automated workflows include: recovery from logical corruption to any point, failover and failback of specific groups of consistency groups, and non-disruptive DR test.
