Dell Technologies’ high-performance computing academy in South Africa partners with SUSE to train students in open source software solutions
Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) has announced a partnership between Khulisa Academy, and SUSE, the world’s largest independent open source software company. Khulisa which means ‘nurturing’ in Isizulu is a training academy that was launched by Dell Technologies in 2016 and is designed to promote learning on high-performance computing (HPC), with a focus on youth from disadvantaged communities and attracting female students. The program intakes 30 students each year and spans over two years focusing on HPC certified skills training in Red Hat, Linux, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things and several other HPC focused segments. The academy also continues to enhance its training program by offering new courses around digital technologies. The addition of SUSE open-source software training curriculum, will provide students with knowledge on one of the most dominant enterprise operating systems in the market today. Linux is overwhelmingly the preferred operating environment for the world’s servers – particularly around web and cloud infrastructure, where the Linux family holds more than two-thirds market share1. SUSE enables better futures and delivers innovative open source solutions and technologies for the enterprise to simplify, modernize and accelerate traditional and cloud native applications across the IT landscape.
