• Big data technology helps doctors accelerate cancer treaments

Dr. Jeffrey Trent, who pioneered the first human genome sequencing project, wanted to accelerate work he and his team at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) are doing by applying big data technology to neuroblastoma, a very rare form of pediatric cancer. Since 2011, Dell has helped TGen use precision medicine to fight children’s cancer —including many types that are so rare they only affect a handful of patients worldwide. More recently, Dell has also helped TGen address many common cancers in adult patients. We provide funding, technology and expertise that enable researchers and doctors to accelerate and improve treatment plans – now at the point of diagnosis and not as a last resort.
