Welcome to the Hall of Fame!

Ethernet is one of the most successful standards in the history of the IT industry – and our own John D’Ambrosia has had a lot to do with that. This week at Interop, industry trade publication Light Reading recognized John’s extensive contributions to the leading local area network technology by inducting him into its Hall of Fame. Other Hall of Fame members include Ethernet’s co-founder Robert Metcalfe, as well as Steve Jobs.

John is the chief Ethernet evangelist in Dell’s CTO office, and has been an industry leading voice in the development of Ethernet-related technologies since 1999.

Currently he is the acting chair of the IEEE 802.3 400-Gigabit Ethernet Study Group, a member of the IEEE 802 Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Ethernet Alliance.  Prior to these efforts, John served as chair of the IEEE P802.3ba Task Force, which developed the specifications for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s Ethernet, and chair of the IEEE P802.3bj 100 Gb/s Backplane and Copper Cable Task Force.

In addition, John blogs for EE Times and China Network World, giving insights into the state of the Ethernet ecosystem.   For his ongoing contributions to the continuing success of Ethernet, John also was recently honored with the Ethernet Achievement Award at the 2013 Ethernet Technology Summit.

Congratulations, John!
