Video: Dell Youth Learning is improving the lives of young people

By Dell Inc.

Millions of children worldwide are not in school and lack access to the facilities, teachers and the technology they need for a better education.

At Dell, all of our giving initiatives are designed to directly benefit children who are considered underserved for reasons such as poverty, insufficient infrastructure, geographic isolation, disability or illness. We focus on education and healthcare because these are two major areas where children’s needs and our capabilities intersect.

We work with over 60 non-profits around the world, who we call our Youth Learning Partners, and we provide these partners with grant funding, our latest technology and our team members’ expertise. A local Dell team member, who becomes our Community Service Ambassador for the partner, manages our engagement, including the deployment of technology and Dell team member volunteers.

In this video, Deb Bauer, Director of Global Youth Learning Strategy, talks about how Dell’s Youth Learning initiatives help youth to power the possible and power their dreams, as they embark on their lives.

As part of our Dell 2020 Legacy of Good Plan, we have a goal to apply our expertise and technology in underserved communities to help 3 million youth directly and support 10 million people indirectly to grow and thrive by 2020. Since we began working toward this goal in FY14, we have helped 1.4 million youth directly and 6.8 million people indirectly.

In FY15, youth learning and children’s cancer care continued to be our focus areas as we put our technology and expertise to work where it can do the most good. Our ongoing strategic partnerships with nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations in these focus areas drove our expanded reach this year, as they leveraged proven program models to work with additional children, schools, clubs and communities. We continue to deepen our relationships with over 60 Youth Learning partners in 15 countries: US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Panama, Colombia, Philippines, Singapore, China, India, South Africa, Nigeria, France, UK, and Morocco.

Our FY15 report highlights just a few of the hundreds of partner stories we could share for FY15 and is available here.
