- New Dell PowerVault MD3 dense arrays offer a strong value for a wide range of customers with a platform that easily grows with your data demands.
- New zero-percent leasing is now available for our SMB customers¹ on our PowerVault family of storage arrays, including the new PowerVault MD3 dense enclosure.
- New features added to the DR4000 disk backup and disaster recovery appliance provide tighter integration with Symantec backup applications and help ease remote office backup through many to one replication.
Our end-to-end Dell storage portfolio has grown as we have added new technologies to help you keep your data safe, secure, and available. These new capabilities have strengthened our data management offerings and are receiving positive feedback from you, our valued customers.
Today we’re building on that momentum with the new PowerVault MD3 dense array series, which can help your organization manage expanding data storage needs while preserving capital. As a result, you can invest less in IT and more in the growth of your business.
We’re also continuing to strengthen our PowerVault line of products for those of you who are looking for a balance of value and performance. Our PowerVault solutions address needs across business segments, including small business, remote office, or large enterprise organizations looking for dense, cost-effective solutions.
The new dense storage array features a smaller footprint with a 60-drive, 4U rack enclosure. As a 12U configuration, with one MD3 dense array combined with two dense expansion enclosures, the storage array can store up to 540 terabytes of data, scale up to 180 hard drives, and supports Fibre Channel, SAS and iSCSI protocols.
Now, we are making it even easier for you to get your hands on this solution. Through Dell Financial Services, we’ve expanded zero-percent leasing to Dell’s PowerVault storage platform, providing small- and medium-sized organizations with easy access to flexible enterprise solutions for all stages of growth. The special 36-month fair market value lease is available to those who purchase $5,000 or more of combined enterprise solutions that include PowerVault storage, PowerEdge servers and PowerConnect switches. ²
The MD3 dense array is available globally this month with the same software, firmware and management features as the PowerVault MD3 series, giving you the same benefits of the PowerVault platform but in a smaller footprint.
Dell is also announcing a software release to the DR4000, an advanced disk-based backup and recovery solution that features innovative deduplication and compression capabilities from Dell’s Ocarina Networks acquisition. Since it was first announced in January at Dell Storage Forum London, the DR4000 has been popular with SMB customers who want to augment or replace traditional backup and recovery environments with disk-based solutions for their speed, access and reliability.
The updated DR4000 supports the ability to replicate from multiple appliances to one, enabling customers with remote offices or locations to replicate to a centralized location.
New updates to the DR4000 also include support for Symantec OST (OpenStorage), an API that enables third-party intelligent storage devices to tightly integrate with Symantec backup software applications. When a DR4000 is used with OST, the backup application becomes aware of the properties and capabilities of the appliance, and can better control backup images. The DR4000 with DR Rapid Data Access can significantly increase performance and can now backup up to 5 terabytes of data per hour when using Symantec OST.*
