I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks already, since VMworld 2015. This year’s show featured 23,000+ attendees, 800+ technical sessions, demos, and a host of customer engagement activities.
And, while I have attended a number of VMworld events, I still found myself excited by many show highlights—the most prominent being the industry’s transformation, and the way key partnerships are evolving with this dynamic shift. This includes both newer relationships with hot-growth, “emerging” companies to those more mature relationships with companies who are continued and vital strategic partners.
EMC held various theater sessions which featured many of our partners’ solutions including Cisco and VCE. It also included a genius bar, and conversation stations to drive the message of leadership in flash, hybrid cloud, big data, and converged infrastructure to attendees.
One of the highest attended booth sessions was Chad Sakac’s Meet up:

Our Federated efforts continue to gain momentum, as evidenced by the cohesive representation of EMC Federation companies—including Virtustream—both in the VMworld booth and on the show floor. The power of our Federation successfully showcased the choice we provide to the software defined enterprise and the emerging 3rd Platform of mobile, cloud, big data, and social—transformed by billions of users and millions of apps.
Another key highlight included the promotion of Converged Infrastructure Solutions driven through Federated EMC and VCE and the longstanding relationship with Cisco. VCE’s booth featured blocks, racks, and appliance solutions and offered joint presentations from EMC, Cisco, and other key partners.
Sessions included: Federated End User Computing, Federated Hybrid Cloud, and VDI with VMware, EMC XtremIO, and Converged Infrastructure Solutions.
EMC also participated in a live Periscope view of the VCE booth, which featured the heavily trafficked Vblock Systems.
Cisco’s theme highlighted: Your Data Center is Everywhere – The Center of Innovation. Demonstrations included recent work on a desktop virtualization solution with VMware. Cisco’s booth featured demo pods that showcased Cisco UCS solutions for Virtual SAN and VDI as well as a graphic acceleration for VDI with Cisco UCS.
Presentations included: Efficiency, Speed and Disruption with Cisco Data Center and Cloud Solutions and Getting Ready for next wave of IT Convergence with Cisco UCS.
EMC had great success with cross-collaboration between booth presentations, social engagement, and EMC/VCE/Cisco product demonstrations. In addition, VCE hosted a number of joint customer meetings. Hearing directly from the customer on their success validates the strength of the solution that EMC, Cisco, and VCE bring together. Some key joint customer highlights included:
- Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, the largest chain of boutique hotels in the United States, explained how VCE Vblock solution including EMC VNX and Cisco products, provided them the scale they needed for rapid business expansion that helped the business plan for the future.
- CenturyLink, a VCE Partner and Systems Integrator, shared how their customer, Intercontinental Hotels Group, deployed a private cloud environment leveraging VCE Converged Infrastructure, including EMC VNX, and Cisco products, resulting in reduced delivery times, 25% application performance improvement and an 81% lower cost of deployment.
These are just a few customer stories demonstrating how EMC and VCE—through the power of the EMC Federation— together, along with our strategic relationship with Cisco, enable our customers to transform their IT organizations and allow us to remain the #1 choice for Converged Solutions.
EMC will participate in VMworld 2015 Europe, taking place in Barcelona, October 12- 15. We look forward to seeing you there.
