As we approach VMworld 2012, I have been asked a lot about what Dell Compellent will be launching, discussing and demoing. Rest assured, we will be doing all the above! I will be spending most of my VMworld 2012 at the Dell booth talking about all the greatness Compellent offers VMware environments. The highlight this year will be the launch of Compellent’s next-generation Controller built off Dell’s 12G server platform. We will also be talking in depth about our growing list of VMware integrations:
Dell Compellent vSphere Plug-in (available now)
Hopefully you are already familiar Compellent’s vSphere Plug-in, but if you aren’t, we will be demoing our latest version that supports vSphere 4, 5 and hybrid environments. The Compellent vSphere Plug-in enables provisioning, management (expand, snapshot, delete), and monitoring of storage resources all through the vSphere interface. We will also be discussing our upcoming Flex based plug-in for vSphere’s next generation interface.
VMware APIs (available now)
VAAI and VASA are increasingly important to VMware administrators for both performance/efficiency optimization but also for the long-term direction of VMware VM management. Compellent is certified with all four VAAI primitives and VASA. All our demos at VMworld will include both sets of APIs.
SRM (available now)
Compellent has updated its Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) in anticipation of the upcoming release of vCenter SRM 5.1. Compellent has also released an industry first capability with SRM 5.0 that enables you to choose the snapshot you wish to failover for testing or in the event of a disaster. Selectable Replay is available now.
Replay Manager 7.0 and vCOPs (coming soon)
We will also be discussing our next major release of Replay Manger and support for vCenter Operations Manager (vCOPs), you have to visit the booth to hear more.
