Successful Migrations = Trusted Advisors Driving Business Transformations

On December 6, we’re pleased to partner with Dell in presenting ZeroIMPACT Migration Day, a virtual event where attendees can learn about all things migration from the best and brightest minds in the industry. Live chats with experts, on-demand webcasts and helpful advice for ensuring migration success all offer unique and valuable educational opportunities for teams preparing a migration project of any size.

Empowering successful migrations lives at the core of Quest’s solutions portfolio and is a great way for partners to get their foot in the door with target customers. Mergers and acquisitions, strategic application deployments, and other significant shifts represent important opportunities for Quest partners. In honor of Migration Day, I asked some of the ZeroIMPACT sponsors, including Avanade, Dimension Data, InfraScience and Insight, to weigh in on the role migrations play for their organizations.

According to InfraScience, migrations are not only a major door opener but a welcome “do over” for customers wanting to upgrade from old operating systems and applications to boost productivity and efficiency. This was the case for Coca-Cola Bottling Consolidated Company, an InfraScience client that moved 3,000 knowledge workers from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange as part of a strategy to modernize its environment.

“Successful migrations can drive major business transformations,” says Mark Pierce, InfraScience co-founder and managing officer. “We develop five-year roadmaps to guide the process, taking everything into account, from upfront planning to minimize disruptions during the migration to getting everyone excited about the new environment and its key features and benefits.

For the Avanade team, migrations are the main event. According to Brad Gephart, senior director, Americas Infrastructure Services, it comes down to much more than just moving data from Point A to Point B. “It’s about the journey and the opportunity to optimize business processes and improve user experiences,” he explains. “For us, migration success is when the transformation kicks in, which is why the change enablement factor is such an important part of our methodology and approach.”

In driving successful outcomes for their customers, Quest migration partners can reinforce their status as trusted advisors. “Migrations extend our customer stickiness, often leading to long-term services engagements,” explains Caroline Hinton, vice president of software for Insight. “Thanks to Quest’s complete set of migration tools, we can easily tailor our solutions to fit our clients’ particular needs, while extending our trusted advisor relationships.”

Customizing flexible migration plans to best meet specific requirements is another way partners can bolster their position as strategic business allies. “Every single use case is different,” says Larry Peckham, senior solution architect for Dimension Data. “For example, if a merger or acquisition is the driver, then we need to move nimbly and assimilate the blended organizations quickly. With a solid understanding of the underlying business reasons and a deep look at the IT infrastructure, we can present options and prepare plans to simplify the process, mitigate risk and ensure migration success.”

On Migration Day, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with these “HighIMPACT” migration partners, along with our own experts, to better understand what a ZeroIMPACT Migration can mean for their businesses. For more details, check out the agenda on the registration page.
