SanDisk, Dell, VMware for Resilient Enterprise Storage

Dell World brings together top technology professionals and elite storage visionaries to collaborate and exchange ideas about IT solutions, business issues and more. A key challenge facing nearly every IT professional is how to leverage system resources to meet the increasing performance demands that coincide with the era of big data in the most cost-effective way possible.  SanDisk®, Dell® and VMware® have come together with a solution as enterprise data centers begin that transformation into public clouds and fully virtualized systems.

SanDisk low latency SAS enterprise SSDs within Dell PowerEdge® R720 servers and Dell PowerEdge® T620 servers are now certified with the new VMware Virtual SAN. VMware Virtual SAN is an innovative software-defined storage tier that clusters server direct-attached HDDs and SSDs to create a highly resilient converged storage infrastructure optimized for virtual machines. Virtual SAN extends the hypervisor to pool both compute and storage, and is seamlessly integrated with VMware vSphere, implementing a scale-out, highly available architecture with built-in read/write caching on SSDs for high performance capabilities.

The inclusion of SanDisk enterprise SAS SSDs enables performance and scalability, all while minimizing IO storage latency for read and write operations. SanDisk SSDs are designed to work seamlessly with Virtual SAN, providing enterprise performance equivalent to traditional storage with lower capital and operating expenses significantly reducing total cost of ownership. The combination of SanDisk SSDs with Dell PowerEdge servers is an ideal solution to run VMware Virtual SAN, and allows customers to fully leverage its built-in caching and high resiliency capabilities to minimize storage latency, while preventing data loss in the event of disk, host or network failures.

As established partners, Dell, VMware and SanDisk are aligned in their goal to provide customers with powerful enterprise storage solutions that cost-effectively enhance existing data center infrastructures.  The qualification of our SSDs in Dell PowerEdge R720 and T620 servers is a testament to that dedication and quality assurance.
