Putting Customers First: Dell Delivers End-to-End Desktop Virtualization Solutions

The intricacies of deploying a desktop virtualization solution seem to be on the minds of many these days. While there’s pent-up interest in taking advantage of all that desktop virtualization can deliver—including improved end user efficiency and mobility, secure access for remote users and reduced IT costs—too often the excitement wanes due to an equal dose of indecision or lack of expertise it happen.

We’ve heard these concerns from customers, which is why Dell is so pleased to announce the release of new desktop virtualization solutions for Microsoft environments that provide customers with more choices than ever before.

Dell has integrated the newest version of vWorkspace, our desktop virtualization management solution, with Dell DVS Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 by creating the Dell DVS Enterprise for vWorkspace Reference Architecture. The integration of vWorkspace with Dell DVS Enterprise lets our customers take full advantage of one of the market’s only end-to-end solutions of single-source IP for both hardware and software, satisfying a variety of desktop virtualization needs.

vWorkspace 8.0 fills a critical market need by simplifying the deployment and operation of virtual desktop infrastructures. In talking to our customers, I know this is a major priority and I’m pleased that we can meet those needs with a single administrative console that makes it easier for admins to ensure the highest performance of individual desktops. The latest version also deploys enhanced end-user monitoring—a feature that’s integrated directly into the console—to improve the overall user experience.

Desktop virtualization is key to enabling bring your own device (BYOD) strategies, which we see surging through the workplace today. As a whole, desktop virtualization empowers employees to work remotely on any device, anywhere, any time. vWorkspace is a fundamental tool for delivering that mobility freedom to end-users in a low cost, highly secure environment. When built upon the Microsoft foundation of RDSH or Hyper-V, vWorkspace offers big reductions in desktop virtualization costs by enabling extremely high density virtual desktop clouds.

The bottom line: vWorkspace makes desktop virtualization affordable, flexible and easy to manage. With its integration into the broader Dell DVS solution set, we know our customers will have something they have told us is important ─ a single source for desktop virtualization hardware and software.

vWorkspace can be purchased separately for use within a customer’s existing cloud infrastructure or through the new end-to-end Dell DVS Enterprise for vWorkspace Reference Architecture that includes datacenter hardware, software and endpoints.

If you’d like to see and hear more about our new desktop virtualization offerings, we will be showcasing them next week at Microsoft TechEd, Microsoft’s premier event for IT professionals and enterprise developers, in Booth #1201. We’re also excited to share the news that our overall DVS Enterprise solution is a finalist for the Best of TechEd awards, and we couldn’t be more pleased to be recognized for this stepping stone on our path to becoming the leading provider of end-to-end scalable solutions.
