Predicting the future with SupportAssist

A glob of pureed spinach catapulted through the air as I looked on in horror. SPLAT! That’s the sound it made as it hit a white linen lampshade. My son smiled with pride, revealing his four teeth, as if he were an Olympian on the podium accepting a medal.

This was my biggest #parentingfail to-date. Why did I decide to let my toddler hold the spoon? Oh yeah, it’s because he screams like an angry bird if I don’t. Why did I give him a rubber spoon instead of a plastic one? What was I thinking? If only I could I have predicted this would happen, I could have saved myself countless hours searching the Internet for a replacement shade.

Predicting the future

How many times has something happened and we wished we would have known beforehand in order to prepare? There are no predictive alerts in parenthood; however, Dell offers predictive alerts for your Dell PowerEdge servers. Based on big data analysis, ProSupport Plus customers with SupportAssist enabled are automatically alerted, along with Dell Tech Support, before a server hard drive actually fails – taking the break out of break/fix and giving them time back in their day. Third party lab results have shown issues are resolved up to 90% faster with ProSupport Plus and SupportAssist versus a Basic Warranty alone*.

The lamp shade

As for the lamp shade, I never found a replacement so the green spot is rotated out of sight. My son now has seven teeth and is still holding the spoon. Until predictive alerts exist for parenthood, I guess we will just have to live with a few stains.
