Modernize and transform application environments without disrupting business

Most IT leaders I meet are focused on simplifying their environments to support new business models and growth. Rationalizing and transforming legacy systems are good ways to achieve this goal, but most modernization initiatives do not take place in a vacuum. There is usually pressure to support ongoing operations and most organizations don’t have the luxury of starting from scratch on a new “greenfield” implementation.

IT and business leaders typically have to come up with ways to optimize existing investments and incrementally bridge the gap between current and desired functionality without interrupting service. This can be challenging. Because application environments usually interact with several areas of business — through user interfaces, external applications, data sources and SaaS-based resources — businesses can suffer loss of service or lower customer satisfaction if one of these connection points isn’t properly addressed.

Dell’s Application Modernization services team implements proven best practices to minimize business disruption during IT transformation. Our highly skilled solution specialists assess, develop, implement, test and validate implementations — freeing in-house staff to focus on addressing daily requirements and other high-priority business initiatives. We take a full lifecycle approach to every project and act as a single vendor for all of your unique requirements to minimize risk and disruption.

Our team recently completed a project at Singapore Exchange (SGX) where it was essential to minimize customer impact and maintain ongoing daily operations during the move.

SGX was running its clearing, settlement and depository solution on a proprietary mainframe platform that interfaces with numerous banks and institutions and contributes significant revenue. Modernizing its legacy environment enabled SGX to move to scalable, industry-standard platforms.

Our re-hosting approach met the exchange’s requirement to avoid costly code change and enabled SGX clients to continue accessing systems without reconfiguration. The project significantly lowered annual operating costs and better positioned its IT systems to align with future business initiatives.
