Growing With Our Customers

After a great week at Mobile World Congress last week, I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re doing and where we’re headed in the telecommunications space. With last week’s carrier-grade announcement, the show was full of great conversations regarding Dell’s expansion in the market, yet Dell’s new NEBS-compliant servers are just the beginning of an ongoing presence in the industry.

Today, Dell announced a new telecommunications customer that we’ve been able to help and provide value to in several different ways.   SIPCOM, a new telecommunications customer in the UK, is a global hosting provider of scalable infrastructure for Software-as-a-Service (Saas) and has worked with Dell to build an IT infrastructure to support telecommunications and system integrators across three continents. Using Dell enterprise solutions inclusive of Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell Compellent virtualized storage, SIPCOM was able to create hosted Microsoft Lync environments in both North America and Europe with Dell servers allowing for a 50 percent reduction in costs for Microsoft licensing. 

We’re thrilled to be working with SIPCOM and our partnership serves as a good example of how our enterprise solutions can translate into increased efficiency and cost savings for telecommunications customers specifically. The increased power and density of SIPCOM’s new IT infrastructure means that it can support more than 200,000 users and, not only offers a platform for Microsoft Lync, but other SaaS environments as well, like Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint and other voice and backup services. These improvements have also helped to streamline and simplify SIPCOM’s IT management. 

Referencing the decision to work with Dell, SIPCOM’s CEO Daniel Allen said, “We act as the foundation on top of which service providers build their applications, so we have an obligation to choose the right technology to make that platform as efficient and resilient as possible.
