“Going Big” in October

It would be an understatement to say that October was a big month for our company. The announcement to acquire EMC continues to attract a lot of attention, and following that we had our biggest, and I think best, Dell World yet. Read on to get all the details.

Dell World Recap

Over 8,500 attendees gathered at the Austin Convention Center this year to see the impressive lineup of Dell technology, hear from subject matter experts in sessions, learn from and visit with other partners and customers, and get a glimpse into Dell’s strategy as we move forward.

To get the full rundown on the new product and service announcements around the data center, check out this slideshow:

Building off of last year’s very popular lab tour, we once again extended an invitation to a group of press, analysts and bloggers to visit some of our engineers on the Parmer campus, just a few miles north of downtown. Over 30 attendees had the opportunity to peek behind the curtain of the Dell Engineered Solutions Lab, Data Center Solutions (DCS) and Datacenter Scalable Solutions labs as well as the Dell Acoustics and Thermal labs. Several tweeted about their experience:

Among the social media savvy folks in attendance were Justin Warren, a blogger and Forbes contributor and Greg Ferro and Drew Conry-Murray from the Packet Pushers website and podcast who shared their experiences online.

Here, there, and everywhere

Dell World was the main event, but not the only show for us last month. We were the Global Diamond Sponsor for VMWorld 2015 Europe in Barcelona. There we showcased our Best of Show nominated product, FX2, and end-to-end solutions for EVO:Rail, Open Networking, Converged Infrastructure, Systems Management, Storage, Virtual Desktop, and Software Solutions.

At Oracle Open World in San Francisco, Dell unveiled its latest offerings in partnership with Oracle which included the Dell Acceleration Appliance for Databases 2.0, the Dell Integrated Systems for Oracle Databases 2.0, and the Dell Storage SC9000 with Oracle integration. We have partnered with Oracle for over 20 years to help customers unlock the value of their data, deliver a faster path to productivity and enable business transformation.

While Dell World was going on in Austin, so was SAP TechEd in Las Vegas. We were an exhibitor there and also had a session on how the Dell-Accenture joint initiative drives transformation, propelled by Dell. Ahead of the event, we posted a blog on the top six SAP HANA value categories for the data center.

Thank you to everyone who made Dell World 2015 a success! We couldn’t have done it without all the support from our customers and partners.
