Give Our Regards to Broadwell-E

For aspiring performers asking “How do I get to Broadway?” the perennial advice is “Practice!” In gaming, the same advice could be said to aspiring eSports competitors wanting to win those large prize pools.

“During the height of my competitive days I had a full time job, was a full time student on the Dean’s list, streamed my matches and practiced 40+ hours a week,” says Anna Maree Manciet, producer/host at Alienware TV. “In order to do what I needed to for school, work, and eSports, it all came down to time management. I put in a lot of effort and hard work over the years.”

For Intel, its own pursuit of perfection has led to a premiere worthy of footlights and fanfare. That’s why today we give our regards to Broadwell-E, the codename of an ensemble of desktop processors that Alienware is excited to have on our Area-51 desktop launching at E3.

Desktop gaming, content creation and VR hit dizzying new heights with the arrival of the Intel Core i7 processor and its X-Series platform. The four new CPUs include the top-of-the-line i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition, the company’s first-ever 10-core, 20-thread desktop processor and its most powerful. Intel’s focus on constant improvement is a trait to which Manciet can relate.

“I used to recite a quote to myself (cheesy I know) ‘When you are not practicing, remember somewhere someone is practicing, and when you meet him, he will win,’” she shared. “This quote is what got me through many hours of practices where I was frustrated and didn’t want to play, this is what kept me going.”

According to Intel, the Core i7 keeps going by delivering up to 35 percent faster multi-thread performance, incorporating its Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.  Designed to easily handle the mega-tasking of simultaneous workloads, it’s a new standard for content creation and the editing/rendering of 4k and VR video/effects (check out this video to see how game developers can benefit from those processors).

Should we mention it’s also the ultimate platform for PC gaming and VR? Yes, we should. Get ready for the best 4k gaming performance with up to three graphics cards. Play your favorite game in 4k while HD livestreaming on Twitch or YouTube, or record and post your gaming skills. As you’d expect, the Core i7 X-Series eviscerates performance-demanding VR games, exceeding minimum specs for both Oculus an d HTC.

June 14 marks the consumer availability of Area 51 with the Intel’s Core i7 X-Series:

  • Intel Core i7-6800K Processor (6-cores, 15MB Cache, Turbo Boost Max 3.0, Overclocked up to 3.9 GHz)
  • Intel Core i7-6850K Processor (6-cores, 15MB Cache, Turbo Boost Max 3.0, Overclocked up to 4.0 GHz)
  • Intel Core i7-6900K Processor (8-cores, 20MB Cache, Turbo Boost Max 3.0, Overclocked up to 4.1 GHz)
  • Intel Core i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition (10 cores, 25MB Cache, Turbo Boost Max 3.0, Overclocked up to 3.8 GHz)

And while we give our regards to Broadwell-E, you won’t need to give out any more Benjamins. It’s the same price as Intel’s current HSW-e CPUs. Now that’s worth a standing ovation.
