Enterprise Secure Mobility Takes Center Stage at Interop 2014

Are you satisfied with your current BYOD strategy?

Jeff Caldwell of Dell speaking on an Interop 2014 panelAt Interop 2014, the leading independent technology conference designed to inspire and inform the world's IT held this week at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center was the place to be to gain insight into the latest BYOD solutions. Dell’s Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions won Best of Interop 2014.

I had the opportunity to present and engage with attendees, customers and partners in Wednesday’s session: “BYOD, WLAN’s and Wires: Harmonious Co-Existence – Is this possible?”

Together, in a presentation and panel session with other industry experts and we explored the evolution of MDM, MAM and SRA convergence between wired and wireless.

At the booth on the expo floor, Dell was in full force. The teams were meeting with customers and partners, briefing press and analysts and presenting Dell networking, EMM, secure mobile access, next-generation firewalls, systems management, storage and servers. There was significant buzz associated with Tuesday’s launch of Dell Secure Mobile Access (SMA) OS 11.0 and Dell SonicWALL Mobile Connect 3.1, key components of the overall Dell Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution which addresses immediate needs of enterprise mobility. This provides for easy provisioning of secure mobile access and role based privileges to corporate data and resources for BYOD and managed mobile devices.

Never before have administrators been able to establish and enforce policies to designate which mobile apps on a BYOD device can be granted VPN access to the corporate network. Dell SMA OS 11.0 is the only per-app VPN solution not requiring modification of mobile apps. Combined with the Dell SonicWALL E-Class Secure Remote Access Appliance (SRA) and Dell SonicWALL Mobile Connect 3.1 software, this update brings together industry leading technologies from many of Dell’s newly acquisitions.  The whole of Dell is now much greater than the sum of its recently acquired companies.

On Wednesday, Dell Software’s Dell Enterprise Mobile Management (EMM) was awarded the Best of Interop 2014 for Mobility. Congratulations to the entire team!  The components include Container management: Dell Mobile WorkSpace and Dell Desktop WorkSpace and Endpoint management: Dell KACE 1000 as a Service and Dell Mobile Management. Dell SonicWALL Network Security Appliance (NSA) 2600 next-generation firewall was a Best of Interop finalist.

Designed for growing small businesses, the Dell SonicWALL NSA 2600 delivers protection deeper level of network security that includes an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) with advanced anti-evasion capabilities, the ability to decrypt and inspect every SSL-encrypted connection crossing the network (on any port), granular control over and visibility into application and user activity across the network, and network-based malware protection that leverages the power of the cloud. All without compromising network performance.  Also at Interop, we demonstrated our enterprise offering, and for the second consecutive year, the Dell SonicWALL SuperMassive™ E10800 earned the coveted "Recommended" rating in the NSS Labs 2013 Intrusion Prevention Systems Security Value Map.

We are focused on the goals of our customers and partners- managing risks, reduce costs and fulfilling end-user demands. Threats are evolving, and they have relentless demands to control data everywhere, across every device, all of the time, remotely or locally. As discussed in my panel session, corporate data protection must include policy based secure pipe, revocation of data and repurposing control. Our award-winning Connected Security solutions from the endpoint to datacenter to the cloud are transforming the IT landscape. The innovation lies in the combined eco-system of Dell’s new technologies including Dell Secure Mobile Access, Dell Enterprise Mobility Management, and Dell Data Protection and Encryption (DDPE).
