EMC Named a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for ECM

The stakes are high when it comes to enterprise information. While enterprise content management (ECM) systems have been widely adopted, not all organizations are prepared to handle technological disruptions where information is front and center.

In January, EMC announced significant advancements to the EMC Documentum ECM portfolio, including the introduction of EMC InfoArchive, a unified enterprise archive platform – leading to Gartner recognizing EMC as a “visionary” in its recent Gartner Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement. Less than a year later, I’m excited to share that Gartner has, once again, positioned EMC as a “leader” in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management report. The new report evaluates the EMC Documentum ECM portfolio for next-generation ECM, enabling customers to increase productivity, improve collaboration and assure governance in the cloud. EMC’s strength in providing an extensive content management stack, industry solutions, as well as InfoArchive help our customers transform business as they embark on the digital journey.

With the mega trends of Big Data, mobile, social, and cloud technologies, come a proliferation of unstructured content that is making it more difficult to deliver reliable information to the right people, at the right time for decision making.  The plot thickens if you’re unable to effectively manage information (structured and unstructured) which can translate into increased costs, decreased productivity and unnecessary business and legal risks. Enterprises need an organized approach that combines content, process, and governance. To start, organizations can clean house and preserve the value of enterprise information through an easily accessible, unified archive.

For customers like Bank of Montreal (BMO), the digital transformation started with structuring the unstructured information and using InfoArchive to decommission legacy applications. After an extremely rapid deployment, BMO decommissioned legacy applications from the mainframe and open systems, which resulted in $5 million of annually savings (21 applications down to eight, and reduced query times from five minutes to three minutes). InfoArchive consolidated all of the bank’s data and provided a simple, customized user interface that enabled each user to easily access and incorporate new data, all while continuing to meet regulatory requirements.

EMC enables customers to address the entire information lifecycle – from capture to customer communication to secure file sync & share thereby helping them to make better decisions with information more quickly and more effectively.
