Developing the Skills of the Future to Make Digital Transformation Real

Successful digital transformation requires more than technology: it requires people.

New Dell Technologies research REALIZING 2030: A Divided Vision of the Future shows that lack of workforce readiness is one of the top three barriers to digital progress. But people can’t “go digital” without help – they need education and support to develop new skills.

Organizations as well as individuals realize that investing in workforce readiness and new skills is key to future success and competitive differentiation. Dell EMC recognizes successful digital transformation requires more than technology, so we are helping our customers develop the critical talent – in-house and within technology partners – needed for the future.

4 New Transformational Certifications

On February 22, Dell EMC Education Services launched a set of transformational certifications that help develop the highly skilled talent that can make transformation real.

These new additions to the industry-recognized Proven Professional certification program are designed to help individuals build and validate their next-generation skills, and give organizations the confidence that they possess the best talent to achieve their business goals and lead the competition. The positive response we’ve received reinforces our belief that these new certifications will establish the industry standard for validating skills required in tomorrow’s workforce.

Here are some very encouraging first reactions to this launch from the industry.

After recently identifying inadequate skills and expertise as being among the top three causes of slow digital progress, Dell EMC took steps to do something about it. The company announced that it would add four new certification tracks to validate the levels of expertise needed to manage today’s modern information technology infrastructure.” Mark Albertson, SiliconANGLE

The tech giant has launched four new certifications, covering security, converged architecture, multi-cloud environments and the business implications of introducing cloud to provide transferrable accreditation for practitioners.” Clare Hopping, Channel Pro

Why We Created the New Transformational Certifications

From speaking with our customers, partners and our own expert practitioners, it became clear that many IT professionals lack the skills to design, implement and operate transformed IT – or to partner with the business in creating their digital future.

We decided to help bridge that gap by creating new transformational certifications that address each aspect of transformational maturity. The four certifications described below establish and validate skills required for digital, IT, workforce, and security transformation.

1. Understanding How to Manage Converged/Hyper-Converged Platforms

Dell EMC Certified Associate Converged Systems and Hybrid Cloud

Associate is the first step toward either the Hyper-converged Specialist or Converged Specialist for administering the Hyper-converged or Converged solution. This is also a step toward the Dell EMC Expert Multi-Cloud certification.

2. Developing Expertise to Enable Automation and Service Delivery with Multi-Cloud Solutions

The Multi-Cloud – Systems Administrator Expert Certification focuses on Dell EMC infrastructure and VMware vRealize Suite and the associated automation capabilities. It validates both knowledge and real world experience in managing a multi-cloud environment. It recognizes expertise in working in environments requiring integration into different public cloud providers.

3. Incorporating Critical Security Controls for Dell EMC Enterprise Infrastructure

The Infrastructure Security course provides a holistic perspective that enables system administrators to identify strengths, weakness and opportunities in their environment when defining security strategy.

Dell EMC Certified Specialist Infrastructure Security

The Specialist Infrastructure Security certification validates knowledge and skills to take a security-first approach to administering Dell EMC infrastructure across the data center and cloud. It will be available in June 2018.

4. Translating Emerging Business Trends into the Technology Solutions and New Operating Models of the Future-ready Organization

The new highest level certification, Master Enterprise Architect, is an experience-based board review certification that identifies and validates those unique individuals who possess the technical acumen to architect modern and secure IT as a Service (ITaaS) solutions, coupled with a holistic understanding of the business drivers that fuel digital transformation.
