Dell wins ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at UK Green IT awards

Green IT Magazine award logoAt Dell we’re constantly striving to find solutions that can help our customers achieve more and consume less in an environmentally responsible way.

We also have an ongoing commitment to minimise the impact of our own IT on the planet, across our operations, our product range and our supply chain. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes smart business sense.

So I’m delighted to report that as a result of this continued focus, we’ve recently been voted ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ by readers of Green IT magazine in the UK, and also named runner up in the ‘Hardware Product of the Year’ category for our PowerEdge R720 Fresh Air Cooling solution.

Held last week in London, the awards ceremony is run annually to showcase and reward the technology, tools and solutions making a significant contribution to improving the IT industry’s environmental performance. During the event, our team had the opportunity to join organisations including Cisco, Samsung Electronics and VMWare to recognise and celebrate of some of the great work happening in the green IT space.

We were awarded ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ as a result of taking a green approach to everything we do. Whether that’s the innovation we have driven in this area, such as our Fresh-Air enabled data centre solutions or bamboo and mushroom packaged products, or designing programmes like our free consumer recycling initiative that make being ‘green’ easier for our customers –  we have an end-to-end approach to greening our organisation which is being recognised globally.

As part of our winner’s package, we were given sponsorship of an acre of rainforest which will help extend and protect the ChocoAndean Rainforest project in northwest Ecuador and the great biodiversity found in this region; a great opportunity for us to continue to make a difference in this space.
