We are excited to share that Dell has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner Inc.’s “Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays.” The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a portrayal of storage vendor performance in a market segmented into four categories: leaders, challengers, visionaries, and niche players. Vendors are evaluated by criteria that include completeness of vision and ability to execute. Gartner evaluated 20 vendors and we were recognized as a leader among them in this market space.

According to Gartner, each of the vendors in the Leaders quadrant “has the market share, credibility, and marketing and sales capabilities needed to drive the acceptance of new technologies.” In addition, these vendors “demonstrate a clear understanding of market needs; are innovators and thoughts leaders; and have well-articulated plans that customers and prospects can use when designing their storage infrastructures and strategies.”1

We consider our positioning in the Leaders quadrant by Gartner confirmation of our mission to improve the simplicity and cost of managing data for our customers.

With the Dell Fluid Data Architecture at the center of what we do, Dell continues to focus on redefining the economics and ease of use of storage. We are continuing to bring enterprise-class features and functionality to all of our storage offerings, and we do this in a way that offers an easily scalable solution, so customers can receive exceptional return on their storage technology investment.

Customers are seeing the excellent value Dell provides for their storage needs. In the recently reported fourth quarter, our own storage solutions grew 12 percent sequentially, greatly outpacing the overall market. Our most significant growth was driven by Compellent and EqualLogic, growing more than 20 percent. We’re continuing to invest and innovate to provide further-enhanced enterprise-class storage for customers of all sizes.

The Gartner report recognizes our commitment to offer customers competitively priced storage, upgrades and support models on existing systems, and our specialized Copilot technical support for Compellent storage arrays.
