Dell’s New Energy Calculator for Monitors

Are you in the dark over how much electricity your computer monitor is using? Knowledge is power.

Earlier today, we launched The Dell Energy Savings Calculator for monitors.  The calculator is designed to estimate your current monitor’s energy use to the energy savings you might get with a new Dell monitor, showing real cost and environmental savings through informed choices.

Dell’s EPEAT Gold rated monitors are halogen-reduced through use of halogen-free laminates in its circuit boards as well as its chassis plastics. Their external chassis also comprise of more than 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastics to reduce environmental impact.

In 2006, we launched our first energy calculator that still lets customers compare and contrast the energy-efficiency of laptops and desktops. We’ve really benefited from the direct conversations we’ve had with businesses and consumers who are looking for simple, but tangible ways to make a difference – everything from energy-efficiency, to carbon offsetting to recycling.

So give the new calculator a spin and let us know what you think. Currently it’s available for U.S. consumer customers, but we’ll be working to expand it to a global audience in the coming months. As always, your feedback and ideas are critical to helping us continue to drive efficiencies and savings for our customers. You can post your comments here or at ReGeneration.org.
