With a string of fall fashion weeks wrapping up across the globe over the past couple of months, designers will be turning to thread makers like Coats, the world’s largest industrial thread and consumer textile crafts company, to help get the latest apparel and accessories in stores and online for the fall season.

Thanks to a recent successful technology upgrade provided by Dell, Microsoft, and Dell partner InfraScience, Coats employees can be sure that there will be no interruptions in receipt of these essential orders on both their desktops and mobile devices.

Coats is a centuries old textile company that has been tremendously successful despite its outdated email and messaging system.  However, maintaining legacy technology combined with compatibility challenges between its old system and newer mobile technologies was an ongoing issue for its employees.  These challenges were the catalyst for migrating to a newer system.

Richard Cammish, CIO, Coats plc, was quoted in InfoTechLead as saying: “We required solutions that would help meet our very tight project timescales and avoid any interruption to our business operations. The geographic distribution of our employees, compounded by low Internet bandwidth in some of the countries in which we operate added to the size of the challenge we faced.”

In order to ensure that 7,500 users across 70 countries were effectively migrated from IBM Notes to Microsoft Office 365, Coats called upon Dell partner InfraScience to help make the transition successful on a tight, five-month timeframe. InfraScience managed the process using Dell Software’s Notes Migrator for Exchange and Coexistence Manager for Notes to provide a seamless and cost effective migration experience. As a premier partner in Dell PartnerDirect and a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, InfraScience was an ideal choice to conduct Coats’ Office 365 email migration.

InfraScience is a professional service firm based in the US and has been working with Dell and a number of Dell’s acquired companies since InfraScience’s founding more than 10 years ago. InfraScience helps Fortune 1000 companies transform their organization, reduce costs, and modernize their IT environment.
