Dell + Microsoft Small Business Server 2011

When it comes to simplifying IT many have tried but few have succeeded. This daunting challenge is very acute for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) who don’t have much in terms of IT resources or budget. This is where Dell comes in. A great example of how we’re enabling customers to do more with less is our support behind Microsoft Windows SBS 2011 Standard (SBS 2011 Standard).

Designed and priced for small businesses, SBS 2011 is an affordable, all-in-one simplified server solution for networking, centralized data storage and backup, security, advanced e-mail and calendar capabilities, database and line-of-business support, and document and printer sharing.

So what’s new? What’s Dell doing beyond merely reselling Microsoft software? For starters Dell is offering all of the hardware, software, services and support from a single point of contact at a competitive price. We’re also helping customers take full advantage of the new capabilities of SBS 2011 by helping to speed deployments, improve reliability and reduce risk through our Dell tested and validated configurations. Other key differentiators unique to Dell include:

  • Dell engineering has invested thousands of hours of engineering testing and development in support of SBS development.
  • Dell can simplify the transition from a peer-to-peer or other environments with factory installation on PowerEdge servers that optimize the workloads supported by SBS 2011.
  • Dell services will cover deployment through lifecycle support

I hope this gives you a glimpse into why we’re excited about Microsoft SBS 2011 at Dell. Our strategy of being open, capable and affordable is resonating with our SMB customers. By providing a simple turnkey solution our customers can expand their IT capabilities without paying a premium price. We did our homework with Microsoft and want to hear your feedback. We want to about hear how Dell is making a difference in your IT environment, so let us know.
