Dell Legal Diversity Award 2013 Winner

Larry Tu along with members of the Legal Diversity Committee and representatives of Hogan Lovells.

Last month we awarded the Legal Department’s Dell Legal Diversity Award to Hogan Lovells. This is the second year for the award, which we present annually to a law firm that represents Dell in the U.S. and best exemplifies Dell’s commitment to diversity.  While we had a number of terrific finalists this year, our department was truly impressed by the commitment Hogan Lovells has shown to advancing diversity within the legal profession.

We commend Hogan Lovells for the many activities that the firm uses to advance diversity, including providing diverse representation and leadership on Dell legal matters as well as the following highlights from the firm’s overall diversity initiatives:

  • Pairing diverse attorneys in the firm with mentors who are actively involved in the attorneys’ professional development.
  • Supporting the development of diverse law students through a half-day practical skills program and a mentorship program.
  • Providing access to strong female role models and fostering mentoring relationships for females in the firm.
  • Embracing inclusiveness by instituting several affinity groups and employee networks for LGBT and ethnic minorities that are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession.
  • Raising awareness of the value of diversity by engaging with and educating all of their workforce on the firm’s vision of inclusiveness.
  • Hosting workshops and retreats for diverse lawyer groups.

Hogan Lovells follows in the impressive footsteps of our first Dell Legal Diversity Award winner, Farella Braun + Martel.   We look forward to seeing what next year’s candidates bring to the table in advancing diversity in the legal profession.  While we continue to drive diversity initiatives within our own ranks, we take pride in working with our external law firms to help advance diversity initiatives in the broader community of our external service providers.

Please help me in congratulating Hogan Lovells on this impressive achievement.
