Dell Donates $350,000 for Disaster Relief in Flood Ravaged Thailand

It has been a devastating year for people around the world affected by natural disasters like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, severe storms, fires and flooding in the southern United States, the earthquake in Turkey and now the persistent, massive Thailand flooding. Tragically, more than 500 deaths have been attributed to the flooding. Many are homeless and businesses’ mere survival is at stake.

To help aid in the recovery, Dell is donating $350,000 to the UNICEF Thailand Disaster ReliefUNICEF is focusing on emergency relief and post-flood assistance to affected children and families in the areas of health, water supply and sanitation, hygiene promotion and education.

In the true Dell spirit, our team in Thailand, throughout the region and the world has stepped up to contribute time and resources to help those affected. Whether it’s providing and filling sand bags or pitching in to clean up the streets, Dell’s presence is being felt. Our team members have again shown their generosity, contributing more than $17,000 in giving matched by Dell, to date.    

Dell’s contribution to the Thailand flood relief effort is an example of the key tenets associated with the company’s Powering the Possible strategy. The program is designed to provide support to underserved communities. One of the pillars of this strategy is delivering disaster assistance to communities where we work and serve our customers.
