Customers have stable choice in Dell for end-to-end solutions

It’s not often that you get to see the immediate cause and effect that uncertainty creates in customer loyalty.  The results from a recent study conducted by industry analyst firm Technology Business Research (TBR) show that customers have strong opinions when it comes to the needs of their business.  TBR’s market research was conducted in September following several waves of announcements coming from technology vendor HP.  In addition to announcing executive leadership changes, HP also announced its plans to exit the tablet business as well as to explore selling or spinning-off its PC business.  TBR wanted to know how HP customers felt about the news.

Likely to replace HP

HP Customers Think the Company has “Lost its Way”

In its HP Customer Reaction Report summary, TBR analysts interpreted the data to suggest that HP alarmed its customers and report that “customers overwhelmingly believe HP has lost its way when suggesting it would exit the PC business.” In fact, nearly 60% of the 130 respondents, which are HP customers with at least 500 employees, feel that HP is struggling as a company and is unsure what to do next.

The analysts at TBR also found that customers find great value in single sourcing their technology needs. In response to the news that HP may sell or spin-off its personal solutions group (PSG), which is the unit that makes its PC products, 63% and 65% of small and mid-sized companies surveyed, respectively, indicated they would be less likely to purchase HP servers in the event of a PSG spinoff.

In total, based on these announcements, 46% of all respondents stated that they would now be less likely to purchase HP products and services.  And for enterprise companies with 1,000 to 4,999 employees, this sentiment rose to 53%.
