Right Vendor for Right Reason — The SIAM Approach to Multisourcing

Every vendor provides the same ITIL best practices for issue resolution and other processes, so no matter who is delivering the service, the business can make informed decisions with a transparent view of what’s happening in their systems. There are plenty of benefits to the SIAM model. For example, organizations can:

Paola warns that “SIAM is not a plug-and-play solution. At any level of the engagement, it is important to get the facts right. To realize the benefits of SIAM in a multisourcing engagement, enterprises need to be ready to devote the due diligence, time and effort required to implement an effective solution.” When choosing a SIAM vendor, organizations should be on the lookout for a provider that:

  • Delivers an end-to-end solution
  • Acts as an advisor on governance, policy establishment and enforcement
  • Offers a standardized processes, based on ITIL best practices
  • Provides real-world examples of SIAM success
  • Offers a comprehensive view of the environment
  • Fosters communication between the various vendors

First and foremost, a company should consider the level of data the SIAM provider can deliver as well as an analysis of the governance and reporting.
