I was privileged to have the opportunity to participate in the event and see our Oklahoma City site directors, Chris Scully and Rohit Keshava, accept the award on behalf of the nearly 2,000 Dell team members in Oklahoma. Check out the great video discussing our partnership with Boys & Girls club.

During the last decade, Dell’s corporate and foundation giving, donations to charities have totaled more than $800,000 in financial and technology.  In 2011 alone, Dell team members’ volunteered over 4,800+ hours to Oklahoma City charities, and Dell matched financial contributions of 600+ donors which resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars being contributed to nearly 200 charities in the Oklahoma City area.

If you’ve never visited Oklahoma City, you should. It’s a big small town. I had a chance to talk with my colleagues, visit five charities and see the city. Oklahoma City is filled with such a strong character of compassion, warmth and generosity that permeates everywhere you go.  It’s because of this spirit on why I believe our team members are so engaged and passionate about giving back.

Our employees are truly at the heart of why Dell continues to give back to the communities where we work and live – because they are the rallying spirit of our good works.  A great example of this is our relationship with the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County that we’ve had since 2006.  As a Powering the Possible partner, our common mission is to help those most needy in our community have an equal opportunity for success in school, work and life. We celebrated that mission at a dedication ceremony prior to the gala for its new Dell Technology Lab.
