Remastering Ubuntu ISOs with the “Disc Remastering Utility” (DRU) Project

Topics in this article

Since we released our remastered Ubuntu 7.04 ISOs last week, several people in the Ubuntu community have been asking how we created those images. The answer is with the Disc Remastering Utility (DRU), an open-source project we recently released for customizing Ubuntu media. It was originally developed to modify the Ubuntu 7.04 media to provide updated hardware support for Dell systems supported with Ubuntu, but should be extendable for use on any computer vendor’s hardware. Please take a look at this project, and let us know how we can make it more useful. As always, you can direct discussions to our desktop mailing list. Please submit any bugs to the DRU Launchpad page.
