2016: Customers Lead the Way with Converged Infrastructure – Part II

In Part-I, I had showcased some fantastic stories where we helped our customers leverage converged infrastructure to modernize their IT and achieve productivity gains. Below I explore few more stories that demonstrate the power converged platforms.

With annual passenger numbers expected to surpass 64 million by 2033, Australia’s second busiest passenger airport needed to modernize its infrastructure and set the stage for ongoing innovation. In August 2015, its new Terminal 4 became the first terminal in the Asia-Pacific region to operate a completely self-service model from check-in kiosks to automated bag drop facilities. Dell EMC CI enabled the self-service model by providing high availability to key applications like baggage handling and check-in.

mohawkMohawk Industries, the world’s largest flooring manufacturer, embarked on a digital transformation. At the center of the transformation is one of the world’s largest SAP HANA TDI environments running on all-flash Vblock Systems 740 and a XtremIO tech extension. The solution has resulted in increases in operational efficiency, better decisions based on the insights into the business, and reduced manufacturing defects and claims and increased overall product quality.

A key growth driver of the business is Molina’s increasing enrollment, which in turn has contributed to higher call volumes. By 2016, it was time to further modernize its infrastructure to meet the ongoing needs of students, faculty, and researchers. USD replaced its Vblock System with a new flash-optimized VxBlock System 350 to support its four campus data centers, and a VxRail Appliance at its disaster avoidance site in Phoenix, Arizona. Among the benefits, USD is running 4X the number of solutions in its VxBlock System supported private cloud for the same cost as it would be in the Amazon Web Services public cloud.
