Enhancements to the PowerVault MD3000

This week, we brought new expansion capabilities to the PowerVault MD3000 storage array by connecting up to two additional PowerVault modular disk subsystems. With this enhancement, up to 45 300GB SAS disk drives—or 13.5 terabytes of raw capacity—can store critical information on PowerEdge servers, particularly two-node server clusters.

We recently published this PDF article about setting up highly available storage for cluster-aware applications, including SQL Server, Exchange Server, and Oracle Database with Fail Safe software. The PowerEdge Cluster SE600W and PowerVault MD3000 are SAS-based solutions that improve upon the performance, reliability, and scalability limitations in previous-generation SCSI platforms.

In this video, Dave Zenz from the PowerVault engineering team provides an overview of the MD3000 deployment and initial configuration using the Modular Disk Storage Manager.
