Choose Better and Do Better for Your Organization, Employees and The Planet

Gone are the days when a successful company and brand was measured just by revenue and clever marketing. Companies now have to respond to the clarion call of being held more accountable for the impact their operations have on their ecosystem – both within the organization and externally on society and more importantly the environment.

At Dell Technologies, we see a future that propels human progress, one that delivers business and societal impact for everyone. The goal is to embed sustainability and ethical practices into every aspect of our business i.e. the technology, people and partnerships. In a bid to act on climate change, reduce waste while championing the people who help make our products, Dell Technologies has as a part of its Moonshot Goals for 2030 pledged – for every product a customer buys, we will reuse or recycle an equivalent product. 100% of our packaging will be made from recycled or renewable material. More than half of our product content will be made from recycled or renewable material.

Dell Technologies is committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050. But we aren’t waiting until 2050 – our work is already underway. Achieving this ambitious goal requires strong interim goals we will deliver on within the next decade.

But we are also acutely aware that sustainable change required consistent from all of us – each member of the supply chain. It’s why we are driven to innovate, advancing products and solutions to support our customers and partners to achieve their emissions goals.

When it comes to designing our products, we consider the entire lifecycle – reducing emissions at every step for less waste, greater energy efficiency and a reduced product carbon footprint.

Design guided by circular principles

Our commitment to protecting the planet means reducing our dependency on creating new and instead reusing as much as we can. That’s why Dell Technologies is dedicated to keeping products and materials in circulation longer through repair, recovery and reuse—an approach known as the circular economy. Our use of sustainable materials helps reduce the environmental impact of making them and recycling them – for example

  • The OptiPlex machines are made with up to 65% recycled material
  • OptiPlex micro are designed with ocean-bound plastics in the fan and fan-housing
  • The Latitude 5000 series are made with 5 types of sustainable materials
  • Latitude 5000/9000 uses ocean-bound plastic in parts including the fan housing
  • Latitude 7000 series uses bio-based plastic in the feet & recycled plastic in the battery frame

Committed to 100% responsible packaging

Packaging for all new commercial laptops is made from 100% recycled or renewable materials, including paper alternatives to plastic bags, trays and tape. The best part; it’s 100% recyclable so we can work together to keep it out of landfills.

Dedicated to higher environmental standards

We make it easier and more transparent for our customers to understand electronic products and the companies that make them and their commitment to sustainability. Here is how it is reflected throughout our client solutions portfolio

We have a 120+ EPEAT registered products. EPEAT is a registry that evaluates electronics for their effect on the environment

Energy Star 8.0 throughout portfolio. The ENERGY STAR rating system is globally recognized and sets a high bar for what constitutes energy-efficient product across multiple categories.

Dell Technologies proudly provides dozens of TCO 9.0 certified monitors, laptops and desktop – a third-party certification that requires independent, accredited certification around criterion like socially responsible manufacturing, environmental issues, and health and safety throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Multipack and save the planet

Finally, Dell employs a server packaging option called Multipack that is designed to save customers time, simplify server installations, and protect the environment by eliminating up to half of the packaging materials and waste resulting during a typical customer installation of IT equipment.

So far Dell Technologies has used 396.5 million pounds of sustainable material in our products and packaging. Recovered and reused 2.5 billion pounds of used electronics since 2007 and are on track to achieve our net zero greenhouse gas emissions across scope 1,2 and 3 by the year 2050. Our partners, suppliers and customers can also join us on the mission through the many recycling options we offer consumers and businesses.

There is no question that zeroing out emissions is the strongest commitment countries and businesses can make to slow down global warming. And we are committed. We will deliver on our net zero goal with the right actions, measurement, partnerships and people to get us there.
