The Witcher 3 is a milestone in the history of video gaming. Dell EMC equipped the Polish developer CD PROJECT RED with a customised IT infrastructure configuration.
With more than 250 awards for the best game of the year, The Witcher 3 by developer CD PROJECT RED is the most critically acclaimed video game ever. The market of video games is booming and with VR-technology on the rise, PC and console games are becoming more and more important. While game graphics presentation is advancing almost close to photorealism, hardware is getting progressively demanding. Dell EMC managed to offer the biggest and most important player in video games in the Eastern Europe area a custom-made IT infrastructure. This includes PCs, servers, storage, network and backup solutions, virtualization and cloud concepts, software and services in an “One Network” package.
Many needs – One solution
Video game development demands a perfect collaboration of designers, programmers, graphic artists and other professionals. For that reason, CD PROJECT RED decided to standardise the hardware of the workstations of its employees. Now, processes between the departments are proceeding more smoothly.

This increased reliability of the IT environment is supported by the use of a customised configuration working with a Dell Precision Tower 5810. Additionally a Networking S5000 Data Center Switch is combining LAN and FC technology in a single product. This architecture allows unifying network infrastructure as well.
Strategy as a service
Additionally, the package includes a “Keep Your Hard Drive” option. The hard drives don´t leave the company in case of maintenance, as data is highly sensitive and the risk of leaks in the entertainment industry is a matter of considerable financial losses. This solution makes security a part of the support strategy.

Dell EMC managed to build CD PROJECT RED´s IT infrastructure almost entirely on one vendor´s solution. This leads to the highest level of reliability and support. With this background in high-performance infrastructure, the developer is working confidently on its highly anticipated upcoming title Cyberpunk 2077.
