Dell Storage Breaks New Ground
Dell Storage launched the next generation of its operating system for SC Series Arrays that’s been three years in the making. Dell Storage Center Operating System 7 (SCOS 7) promotes the adoption of flash, elevates and abstracts data control through increased virtualization, and unifies Dell’s storage ecosystem across multiple portfolios. This new solution also lowers acquisition and lifecycle costs across flash and hybrid arrays, enhances support for virtualization and increases flexibility and protection, fortifying Dell as a preeminent force in flash.
IDC Highlights Dell Active System Manager
In a recent white paper, IDC stresses the importance of automated infrastructure management and how Dell Active System Manager (ASM) increases the quality and reliability and efficiency of cloud deployments. By automating the provisioning of infrastructure and workloads, IT teams can devote more time to initiatives that help grow the business and less time on routine tasks and maintaining IT infrastructure. Dell ASM offers a unified management and automation solution that gives IT teams the ability to provision infrastructure and workloads in minutes…giving them the power to do more. And when IT teams have more time, they can focus on innovating for the future.
SAP partnership on IoT and cloud
At SAP’s SAPPHIRE NOW conference, Dell announced new solutions, innovations and services developed in collaboration with SAP that deliver greater performance, insight and agility for organizations processing large volumes of data. This new set of offerings helps customers optimize SAP solution environments running on clouds; deploy IoT enabled solutions; build on specialized healthcare applications; and streamline data migration and analytics with Dell’s services.
Modular Data Centers Address Complexity
Modern communications technologies require constantly evolving strategies to compete with digitally born companies. Decision makers are now embracing more agile approaches and cutting-edge solutions like modular data centers (MDCs) to drive cost and energy efficiencies as well as shorten the time it takes to add critical datacenter capacity. Dell is working side-by-side with carrier customers to develop new MDCs with pre-integrated IT solutions that pack more density into fewer racks and that can be customized in size and capacity to scale-out to meet a variety of market demands. By building nimble solutions, we make it easier for carriers to be responsive to their customers’ changing data needs. At Light Reading’s recent Big Communications Event, Dell displayed their MDC model and Jim Ganthier, vice president and general manager for Dell Engineered Solutions and Cloud, spoke about the lessons from the past, the present and the future of the enterprise.
‘Dell Technologies’ Unveiled
With the Dell and EMC acquisition close date looming, Dell had major announcements to make at EMC World in May starting with the upcoming name change. The newly combined tech giant will be named Dell Technologies, an umbrella brand for the collection of companies that will include “Dell,” the sub-brand for the company’s enterprise business, while the Client Solutions division (PCs and end-user computing) will continue to carry the Dell brand. The other key businesses that will be part of this new federation of companies include Pivotal (cloud platform), VMware and Virtustream (virtualization), SecureWorks and RSA (security). At the event, Michael Dell joined current EMC CEO Joe Tucci on stage to discuss the tech industry, Dell and EMC products, and what customers can expect to see before, during and after the acquisition.
