Cloud was the hot topic at this year’s GITEX exhibition in Dubai, and with good reason too. Increased mobility, agility, affordability, and scalability are just some of the unparalleled benefits that Cloud Computing offers a future-ready business. But the value of Cloud Computing extends far beyond technology; it’s the opportunity to deliver the right services at the right time, work from anywhere in the world, and control and scale costs as demands change. In fact, I believe that the future of innovation lies in the Cloud.
Today’s CIOs are not just responsible for the management of IT, but they need to support business growth by reducing costs and encouraging innovation in an effort to build a competitive advantage and drive digital transformation. And that’s a lot of pressure. Thankfully Dell EMC understands the importance of freeing up critical IT resources for strategic initiatives and innovation, and we are committed to seeing our partners excel in their respective industries.
At this year’s show, we were thrilled to unveil two major partnerships that are ready to take Cloud Computing and SaaS to the next level.
DAFZA transforms its infrastructure to the Cloud.
Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DAFZA has committed to becoming the first Free Zone in the World that is fully dependent on Cloud. This landmark project will be powered by Dell EMC’s Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Data Protection, and Backup solutions to help strengthen DAFZA’s position as a leading ICT provider.
And while this is an ambitious project, I am confident that DAFZA’s strategy to deliver innovative digital services and achieve unparalleled customer happiness is not only possible, but it will set a new precedent for Free Zones around the world. Watch this space!
Mobily expands its Cloud footprint
Another ground-breaking collaboration for Dell EMC at GITEX came from Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), a leading mobile and data service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This partnership will equip Mobily Business with advanced digital infrastructure and best practices using Virtustream to unlock new enterprise value through Cloud Computing in KSA.
This is particularly exciting for me because Mobily Business’s new Cloud data center in Riyadh will be linked to the two existing Cloud data centers in Dammam and Jeddah, thus making it the largest Cloud Computing network in the Kingdom! This will also allow them to offer unprecedented levels of secure Cloud services to the country’s business sector and help spurn digital transformation nationwide.
Software will never be the same again.
While Cloud Computing has without a doubt changed the face of IT and business as we know it, GITEX was a real eye-opener for me as I realized that many organizations are still struggling to get their heads in the Cloud. I am excited to work with our many partners and clients in the coming year to help them overcome the various challenges and fears of adopting SaaS and embracing digital transformation.
