Dell Technologies recently introduced the first Solar Community Hub in Boa Esperanca, Brazil, in partnership with the Foundation for Amazon Sustainability (FAS). The hub helps improve the lives of people living in the Amazon who are then able to cultivate a more sustainable relationship between the rainforest and its residents.
At the Solar Community hub, the locals are taught how to use AI to combine the on-ground information from the local communities, satellite imagery, drone footage and use it to create detailed maps that can predict deforestation with 90% accuracy.
The hubs are built on the principals of sustainability and circularity at its core, using repurposed shipping containers, sustainably sourced wood and furniture, and solar panels so devices run primarily on renewable energy.
