In order to be successful on your path to the „Digital Transformation“, you always have to look ahead – sometimes far ahead. Let’s do that together, and analyze the substantial changes in the year 2030.
Not too long ago, the internet itself was not much more than a curiosity – a toy for nerds and just a little niche of our society. Nowadays though, almost no part of our economy is imaginable without it – not to mention our private lives, which are almost dictated by smartphones, wearables, apps and more. Being able to exchange data and to get information whenever and wherever you need it, and the possibility to connect them in the blink of an eye has become the backbone of our entire society.
By leveraging innovative technologies, ambitious visionaries, engaged entrepreneurs and foresighted companies have changed entire business segments, created new markets and generated new jobs, all of which were not even imaginable without the internet.
The velocity of these developments is not slowing down. On the contrary, it is getting faster. And more varied. Today, we are not only confronted with one new “toy for nerds and little niches of our society”, but many of them: Virtual and Augmented Reality, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics just to name a few. All of them have the power to change the world just as much as the internet did. Here’s a little infographic on the topic:
The people driving things along in these areas are called “Digital Natives” today. But even they will have to rethink. Experts predict that 85% of jobs in the year 2030 have not been invented yet. The reason for that is easily explained: the pure use of technology is going to evolve into a partnership between man and machine. Today’s Digital Natives have to become Digital Conductors, combining and utilizing different technologies and tools to generate the outcome they need.
Much more on this exciting topic can be found in the study “The next Era of Human-Machine Partnerships: Emerging Technologies‘ Impact on Society & Work in 2030“, published by Dell Technologies in cooperation with the Institute for the Future:
Additionally, our upcoming Dell EMC Forum, on November 7th in Zurich and November 9th in Lausanne, is going to be about #Realize 2030 as well.
We look forward to seeing you there!
