What are Flash Modules (FMs)?
Flash Modules, used in Dell EMC’s Rack-Scale Flash storage appliances, deliver the highest performance, lowest latency, fastest data transfer rates and highest density flash-based storage. Customers use Flash Module based storage for the best application response time and to unleash the power of analytics for real-time decision making for the business.
What are the benefits of Flash Modules (FMs)?
Flash Modules provide higher performance than traditional SSDs – lower latency and higher I/O, throughput and density. Dell EMC Rack-Scale Flash appliances utilize Flash Modules and provide shared flash storage for compute and data intensive workloads – high performance databases and data warehouses, real or near-real time analytics and industry specific custom applications.
How do Flash Modules (FMs) work in Dell EMC Rack-Scale Flash (RSF) appliances?
Similar to SSDs, Flash Modules work by assembling NAND-based flash memory chips into an electronic non-volatile computer storage medium that can be electrically erased and rewritten. Flash Modules provide up to 8 GB/s bandwidth and superior storage performance.
